Robin Newman
Author of funny picture books and early chapter books.
About Robin
Raised in New York and Paris, Robin is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College and the City University of New York School of Law. She was a practicing attorney and legal editor, but prefers to write about witches, mice, ants, and peacocks. Author of the award-winning Wilcox & Griswold Mystery Series and several picture books, she's a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, National Writing Project's Writers Council, Bank Street Writers Lab, PEN America (CYAB), and Read Alliance’s Advisory Council. She lives in New York with two spoiled Spaniels. Robin loves writing for children. It is the best job in the world. And the best perk of being a children's book author is getting children excited about reading and writing.

What educators say
“I have had the pleasure of hosting Robin for both in person and virtual classroom visits. Robin is the kind of person you want to connect with your students. She is engaging and passionate and really helps the students to understand the writing process and that it is ok to make mistakes. I've also had Robin join us on multiple occasions for family events and it's so fun to see how she gets not just the students, but also their families involved and interested in what will come next! I highly recommend Robin if you are looking to book an author to visit with your students. You will not regret it and you will truly get the full package!”
“Robin Newman is an exceptional author and person. Her books are and have been a favorite in our school. She is always willing to visit our students and walk them through her creative process. It’s always a joy to put a face to the books that the students have enjoyed listening to. She always visits our school without a second thought and inspires our class to write our own story. Thank you Robin for being such an inspiration and a wonderful human being.”
“Robin Newman helped ELC celebrate Read Across America with a wonderful author’s visit! Reading her humorous picture book DON’T CALL ME FUZZYBUTT!, Robin engaged two-, three-, and four-year olds (not an easy feat) with her delightful storytelling and encouragement of audience participation. Her extras, craft activities and stickers, were very much appreciated.”
