About Nadia

Nadia Fisher is an author-illustrator and illustrator based in Washington, DC. Her debut picture book, Daddy Dressed Me, written by Michael and Ava Gardner, released in March of 2023, and since then, she has illustrated several picture books, including I Am the Spirit of Justice, Little People, BIG DREAMS: Simone Biles, Daddy & Me: Side By Side, (a Bank Street College of Education Best Children’s Book of the Year 2024). Nadia’s debut author-illustrator picture book, At the Cookout, released in April of 2026 via Putnam Young Readers. Nadia has found that one of the best things about writing and illustrating stories for young readers is getting to talk about the books with them. She enjoys helping to spark curiosity, a love of reading, and a sense of wonder through her visits, and she loves being able to show kids that they, too, can become anything they put their mind too.

What a visit includes

I tailor my presentations for each grade level. I start off talking about my author and illustrator journey, when I started drawing and what brought me to children’s books. I then dive into a read aloud of a book, followed by a an art demo, activity, or book discussion depending on the grade level (see my website for some ideas). I can also share some behind the scenes sketches to final art and some art that didn’t make it into the book. Finally we will end with a Q&A and optional book signing. (45-60 minutes) Books to choose from: At the Cookout; Little People, Big Dreams: Simone Biles; I Am the Spirit of Justice; Daddy Dressed Me; Daddy & Me, Side By Side
