Morgan E. Iverson
Middle grade/YA author of fantasy, sci-fi, and anything that asks, "What if?"
About Morgan
I am the author of The Inklings, a middle grade fantasy/sci-fi that releases with Bushel & Peck Books on December 1st, 2026. The story is based around the real-world Inklings, a writers' group that included C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien (who both make appearances in the book, among other great authors from history!). Aside from actually writing my books, school visits are my favorite part of my job. I love watching kids get excited about their own creative ideas and inspiring them however I can! I have years of experience as an education docent for all ages, and I frequently guest lecture at universities and conferences. I'm adaptable to large or small groups of any ability level and enjoy tailoring my visits to different classes' needs. If you're a teacher of gifted and talented/advanced classes, The Inklings may be an exceptional pick for your students; the book's main character is a gifted child, and many of his struggles and strengths are based around my own experiences. While I am based in the Southeast, I may have in-person availability in Utah without travel expenses depending on the time of year. Contact me if you're interested in potential Utah availability dates!

Visit formats
What a visit includes
I am highly adaptable to whatever format/topic your school needs from my visits. Large groups, small classrooms, signings, Q&As, and hands-on workshops are all available (think of it like a Choose Your Own Author Visit Adventure; you pick what works best for your school). These are my available topics: 1. Literary Legends: The Real-Life Inklings and You. This visit includes an introduction to the real-world Inklings (an Oxford-based literary society during the 1930s and 40s that included C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien) and other famous authors. Students take a personality quiz to find out which author they share the most in common with, then divide into groups to analyze themes and central ideas in a passage from that author. 2. Worlds of Imagination: Writing as a Career. This visit includes a Q&A with students on what it's like to be a full-time author, as well as learning how a text's structure/point of view impacts a story and how to generate story ideas. Students practice one of my favorite story generation techniques to write a short passage of their own. 3. Becoming Resilient Inside and Outside Your Stories. This visit includes a discussion on how both the real-world Inklings and the fictional group in The Inklings became a community that supported and helped each other, as well as strategies to become resilient in life and writing. Students foster their own supportive community by giving and taking constructive feedback on a passage they write. 4. Custom Visit.
Fees vary by format, travel, and your school's needs. Reach out directly for a quote and open dates.
