What educators say

“Michelle's presentations were very well-received by students and teachers alike. Her tailored adjustments for the different age groups were spot on. Fourth and fifth graders were particularly engaged with Mrs. Houts interactive demonstration of how a book grows from idea to arriving in the reader's hands. Many students were inspired for a long time after the visit to write their own "books." We'd have her back in a minute!”

— Sally Stanton, Librarian, Searsport Elementary, Searsport, Maine

“Our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students and teachers were thrilled with the three-day Science Writing Workshop with Michelle Houts. The mix of listening to information and participating in science/writing activities was well balanced and kept everyone engaged. Several of the first graders were so inspired that they wrote their own story and asked Mrs. Houts if they could read it to her and the class. This was definitely one of the best author visits we've ever had at our school.”

— Jackie Skiple, Librarian, St. Helen School, Dayton, OH

“Wow, just wow! We sat on the edge of our zoom screens listening to Michelle share her enthusiasm for reading and writing AND science! Even though the zoom was scheduled for the students, the adults enjoyed listening and learning just as much as the younger audience. We definitely will be contacting Mrs. Houts to share again. Comments made in the chat included the following: Let's look for night birds tonight!!!! Maybe we can camp out! What a wonderful sharing! Children and adults are captivated by her story-telling!”

— Dedra Carter, Elementary ELA Dyslexia Contact, ESC Region 15, San Angelo, TX
