Marie Boyd
Bringing story, science, and creativity together to cultivate curiosity and care.
About Marie
Marie Boyd is an author, illustrator, artist, and law professor. Her second picture book, Sebastian’s Sunflower, celebrates curiosity, nature, and the wonder of caring for a plant as it grows. Marie creates her illustrations using quilling—rolling, shaping, and arranging narrow strips of paper into intricate designs. She is also the author and illustrator of Just a Worm, a 2025–2026 South Carolina Picture Book Award nominee. Through engaging school visits, Marie shares her creative process and inspires students to explore their own curiosity, creativity, and storytelling abilities. She lives in South Carolina with her family.
