About Lynn
I'm a picture book author from Ann Arbor, MI. I love to write outside on my deck surrounded by trees or in my purple office with a "Create with Joy" sign on the wall. When not writing, I love to be active outside; to travel and to study/speak foreign languages. My book, My Backyard Used to Be, contains themes of history, caring for the environment and the joy of playing outdoors. It's a fun read-aloud and I enjoy sharing it with kids in schools and at bookstores and other events.

Visit formats
What a visit includes
I offer both assemblies and classroom visits. An assembly might include all of some of these elements: book reading, discussion of my journey as a writer; how/why we can take care of our backyards; exploration of how a book goes from idea to publication; signing of Backyard song; questions. Depending on age and focus, classroom visits would involve book reading and potentially song and could be focused on discussion and/or activities relating to: book themes; how things change over time; how/why we should take care of our backyards; literary devices found in the book; exploration of how a book goes from idea to publication.
