About Lindsay
Lindsay Bonilla is an award-winning picture book author and professional storyteller. With over 20 years of experience visiting schools, Lindsay loves getting students excited about literacy, imagination and creativity in her engaging author visits. She draws on her theatrical/storytelling background to bring books to life by making audience members active participants in the presentation through the use of kinesthetic movement and vocal participation. She also offers workshops on storytelling, theatre and writing -- or a combination of all three! Lindsay's honors include a 2018 Parents' Choice Award for POLAR BEAR ISLAND; a 2025 Bank Street College of Education Best Children’s Book of the Year recognized for Outstanding Merit and a 2025 Choose to Read Ohio Booklist selection for THE STORYTELLER; a 2026 Bank Street Best Children’s Book and 2026 Ohio Book Award Finalist for THE HOLE. Lindsay's books have been translated into nine different languages. When not writing, she can often be found traveling the world with her adventurous family.

What a visit includes
A typical in-person visit includes a 45-60 minute presentation with up to 300 students. I do an interactive presentation of my book (think of this as a theatrical reading where audience members are actually part of acting out the story, through making sound effects and doing kinesthetic movements. Some students will even come "on stage" to take on roles of characters in the story through the use of props and costumes!). Depending on the age of the students, the visit could also include discussion about the inspiration behind my book, its path to publication as well as the important part revision plays in my work as a writer.
Fees vary by format, travel, and your school's needs. Reach out directly for a quote and open dates.
