About Laura
Laura De La Cruz is a debut book author from Los Angeles, CA, who now calls the Austin, TX area home. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English from ASU, graduating summa cum laude and spent eight years running an elementary school library. She has also worked as a Spanish teacher at a preschool and as a teacher's aide. Her debut book, LOWRIDER FOR SALE, published by Disney-Hyperion, was released on September 8, 2026. She has two more books coming in 2028, including BESOS FOR MAMI. Laura is passionate about writing stories where children from underrepresented communities can see themselves and their experiences reflected in books. Laura loves meeting readers and talking with them about her books, cruising, lowriders, family, and community. When she's not writing, she enjoys spending time with her husband and grown children and playing with her dogs, Eddie and Rico, and her horse, Dolly.
