About Kate

Kate Hannigan loves digging into history and sharing stories about fascinating, inspiring figures like America’s first lady detective, World War 2 code crackers, and the inventors of video gaming and the dishwashing machine. Her two newest books focus on how curiosity shaped President Theodore Roosevelt and “Little Women” author Louisa May Alcott into lifelong readers, writers, and book lovers. Kate's books have received the Golden Kite Award for best middle-grade, been nominated for the California Young Reader Medal, named to Smithsonian Magazine's annual "Ten Best Children's Books" list, included on state award lists, and earned starred reviews. She lives in Chicago and loves to travel for author visits.
