About Justin

Hey there! Justin here. I'm a a traditionally published children's author and professional on-camera and voice actor with SAG-AFTRA. My picture books, which have won numerous state lists, include The Quacken (S&S, ‘24), Impossible Possums and Impossible Possum for Mayor (Disney Hyperion, ‘24 & '25), The Zombees (S&S, '25), Vampurr (Macmillan, ‘26), and some others soon to be announced. I have presented in-person to thousands of students at nearly 100 schools throughout the country. When not on the road (or in the air), you can find me spending time with my family, training as a classical pianist, or practicing beekeeping. What educators say

“I have hosted many authors throughout my 28 years of teaching, and I can honestly say that no one compares to Justin Colon.”

— Stacy Sanders, Librarian, Nebraska

“If you’re considering hosting an author, do whatever you need to do to bring Justin to your school. He delivers an experience that is meaningful, memorable, and incredibly hard to top. Your students will be lucky to meet him.”

— Jen Caressimo, Librarian, Florida

“He had an uncanny ability to connect with students in the short amount of time he was with them; students just wanted to be with him and talk to him . . . unlike anything I have ever experienced with an author visit before. I would highly recommend inviting Justin to visit your school to get students excited about reading. You will not be disappointed! I still have students, staff, and parents telling me how much they loved having him visit.”

— Lauren Williams, Librarian, Colorado

What a visit includes

As a professional SAG-AFTRA actor and traditionally-published children's author, I offer author visits that aren't just events, but rather unforgettable experiences your students (and faculty) will reminisce upon for years to come. Together, we will inspire, energize, and entertain your school's readers! Depending upon whether you book a half or full-day visit, an experience with me could include some or all of the following: 2-3 assemblies (45 minutes to one hour and fifteen minutes each), props and set pieces, optional 'Meet the Author' lunch with up to 15 students, one bookmark and sticker for each attending student, prizes to be distributed throughout the assemblies, a signed book for your library, an optional book sale, photos with each class post-assembly, activity sheets and an educator guide, and more.
