About Gume
Gume is a Texan, native to the Rio Grande Valley, along the US/MX borderlands. His books spotlight the underrepresented groups he calls home: Latine, Chicanx and Queer. His young adult hi-lo verse novel, Solar Punks (West 44 Books), was recognized by YALSA and Junior Library Guild, received an honor from The Nature Generation Green Earth Book Award, and awarded by the International Latino Book Awards. His middle grade hi-lo verse novel, Life in Pixels, received a starred review from School Library Journal and is a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard selection. His full-length book of poetry, Assimilated Natives (Mouthfeel Press) is a three-time award winner with the International Latino Book Awards.
