About Danna

Danna Zeiger, Ph.D. (she/her) (https://www.dannazeiger.com/) is the author of Rewriting the Rules, a Bank Street’s Cook Prize Silver Medal winner, National Science Teachers’ Association’s 2026 Outstanding Science Trade Books for Students K–12, School Library Journal Best Books of 2025, Chicago Public Library Best Books 2ooks of 2025, Bank Street of Education Best books of 2026, USBBY 2026 Outstanding Books for Young People with Disabilities, Cooperative Children’s Book Center 2026 Choice, nominated for the Rhode Island 2026 Children’s Book award and the Maine 2026 Chickadee Award, short-listed in the 2026 SCBWI Crystal Kite Award, commended for the 2025 Pedro and Daniel Intersectionality Book Award, and earned a starred review from School Library Journal. Her next picture book Under an Orange Sky will be released in fall 2027, and her upcoming middle grade novel-in-verse will be released in spring 2028. As a longstanding neurodiverse educator, scientist, and children’s book author, Danna strives to help make challenging topics accessible. Before pursuing her publishing dreams, she was Biology Professor and Program Director for Fisher College’s Biology Program, teaching and mentoring disadvantaged and first-in-the-family students from diverse backgrounds.
