About Barbara

I’m an award-winning author of sixteen middle grade novels that explore socially relevant topics in kid-friendly ways. My latest, NOTHING TO SEE HERE (10/20/2026), about kids on social media, is told from the perspectives of four very different eighth graders (two boys and two girls). My next book, LOST FOR WORDS (9/21/2027) is a multi-POV hybrid verse novel about kids using ChatGPT. Some of the topics I typically include in my presentations: where I get my ideas, how I revise, how I write with a “middle grade voice,” how I deal with writer’s block. As a former teacher, I’m always happy to adapt my presentation to support the school’s curriculum, and I always leave time for a lively Q&A.
